Adenomyosis

What is Adenomyosis?

Adenomyosis is a gynecological condition in which endometrial tissue (the lining of the uterus) grows into the muscle wall of the uterus (myometrium). This misplaced tissue continues to behave like normal endometrial tissue—thickening, breaking down, and bleeding with each menstrual cycle—which can lead to painful, heavy periods and an enlarged uterus.
