Cyclical Breast Pain
What is cycle breast pain?
Cyclical breast pain, also known as cyclical mastalgia, is a common type of breast discomfort that occurs in relation to the menstrual cycle, typically during the luteal phase—the two weeks leading up to menstruation. It is driven by hormonal fluctuations, especially changes in estrogen and progesterone, and is most common in women between the ages of 20 and 50.

This type of pain usually affects both breasts, especially the upper outer quadrants, and may radiate to the underarms. Cyclical breast pain is usually experienced as a “dull, aching, heavy or throbbing pain.”
